Our Story

Debbie (Buckmaster) Hughes was born in Baltimore, MD and is from Dundalk, MD and attended Patapsco Elementary and High School. Debbie has served the church for over 30 years in full time ministry and currantly works as an Administrative Assistant. Tom Hughes born in Wilkes Barre, PA and moved to Newark, DE at the age of five. Raised in Newark, Tom attended Holy Angels Catholic Elementary School and Christiana High School. Tom graduated from Columbia Union College with a BA in Theology and Psychology and from Andrews University with an MA in Religion. We met in Edgewood Maryland at the Starlight Arena for Family Skate Night. After a whirlwind courtship we were married in 1981. That was almost thirty years ago. Through all the ups and downs over the years, our faith in Jesus Christ has helped us to weather the storms of life. We are currently serving in the Ohio Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as a district pastor. God has blessed us with a wonderful family and more joy than we could have asked for. Tom has two children, and six grandchildren. Debbie has one daughter and three grandchildren. Over the last thirty years of ministry God's grace has been sufficient. I truly am a great sinner, but Jesus is an even greater Savior!  In his righteousness alone I trust. -Pastor Tom Hughes

Pastor Tom and Debbie are serving the Newark Seventh-day Adventist Church. We have a Church School and Pathfinder Club. We have a very youth centered program. Multigenerational Worship Services to lift up Jesus and be Christ centered in everything we do. We hope you can visit us for a worship service, Sabbath School or Prayer meeting.
